Sample Itinerary

Activities: 8:00 AM pickup from your Moshi hotel. Drive to the lush foothills of Kilimanjaro (approx. 30 min). Meet your Chagga host and begin a guided walk through the coffee farm, intercropped with banana trees. Learn about organic cultivation, the history of coffee in the region, and the importance of cooperatives. If the season allows, you’ll pick your own ripe cherries. Then move to the processing area to see pulping, fermenting, and sun‑drying.

Meals: Welcome refreshment & bottled water

Activities: After a farm‑fresh Chagga lunch (dishes like machalari, beans, and banana stew), it’s time for the hands‑on roasting. Using a traditional clay pan over a fire, you’ll roast the beans, then grind them with a wooden mortar and pestle. Finally, enjoy a coffee ceremony – taste the rich, pure Arabica while soaking in views of Kilimanjaro. Afterwards, take a short stroll through the village, meet farmers, and visit a small local market (if open). Return to Moshi around 5:00 PM.
